Toyota Resmikan 13 Institusi Sub T-TEP Baru

Toyota bersama Toyota Motor Corporation dan Dealer, serta dukungan penuh dari pemerintah Indonesia menjalankan program T-TEP (Toyota Technical Education Program) dalam upayanya untuk selalu berkontribusi kepada masyarakat khususnya pada dunia pendidikan Indonesia.

Selain T-TEP, Toyota juga mempunyai program yang disebut Sub T-TEP. Baik T-TEP maupun Sub T-TEP, keduanya mengembangkan SDM khususnya pada SMK Jurusan Otomotif. Program kerjasama TOYOTA dengan SMK dalam hal penyelenggaraan Link & Match sudah berjalan sejak tahun 1993.

Perbedaan T-TEP dengan Sub T-TEP hanya bahwa institusi Sub T_TEP belum mendapatkan bantuan alat peraga. Namun institusi ini telah mendapatkan kesempatan training untuk guru, bantuan training manual book, CD training, penyesuaian kurikulum sekolah dengan kurikulum Toyota serta kesempatan OJT di bengkel Toyota sebagaimana sekolah T-TEP, sehingga diharapkan pada masa mendatang lulusan Sub T-TEP akan memiliki kualitas yang setara dengan lulusan T-TEP.

”Dengan Sub T-TEP, maka proses transfer teknologi akan menjangkau area yang lebih luas, karena telah mencapai daerah Indonesia bagian ujung Timur seperti Jayapura serta ujung Barat seperti institusi Sub T-TEP di Binjai,” ungkap Johnny Darmawan, Presiden Direktur PT Toyota-Astra Motor.

Data tahun 2006 menunjukkan bahwa Toyota telah bekerjasama dengan 25 SMK sebagai Institusi Sub T-TEP dan jumlah SMK ini akan terus bertamtabah setiap tahunnya. Tahun 2007 ini, Toyota menambah 13 SMK di tanah air untuk sebagai Institusi Sub T-TEP baru sehingga sampai dengan tahun 2007 total 38 SMK sebagai Institusi Sub T-TEP.

Tahun 2008, Toyota berencana untuk menambah 10 SMK lagi sebagai Institusi Sub T-TEP kemudian diikuti 10 SMK tiap tahunnya hingga tercapai target minimal satu Institusi Sub T-TEP di setiap provinsi. Sejalan dengan rencana tersebut, Departemen Pendidikan Nasional melalui Direktorat Pembinaan SMK akan menjadikan Sub T-TEP menjadi pusat aktivitas untuk pengembangan pendidikan bagi SMK disekitarnya.

Sub T-TEP ke depan akan dikembangkan menjadi pilot project pengembangan SMK di setiap provinsi. Sub T-TEP akan menjadi pusat aktivitas untuk transfer pengetahuan teknologi, transfer pengetahuan new model dan new mechanism Toyota serta tempat uji kompetensi bagi siswa dan guru di sekitar area Sub T-TEP. Dengan demikian posisi Sub T-TEP akan semakin kuat dalam program kerjasama TOYOTA dengan Departemen Pendidikan Nasional.

Kaitannya dengan pengembangan T-TEP, semua Sub T-TEP mempunyai kesempatan yang sama untuk menjadi kandidat untuk menjadi T-TEP selanjutnya.

Penjualan Toyota November 2007 Meningkat

Memasuki bulan-bulan akhir tahun 2007, prestasi penjualan Toyota semakin mengukuhkan posisinya sebagai market leader pasar otomotif nasional. November lalu, dengan perolehan angka penjualan sebesar 16.122 unit, atau naik 42,5% dibandingkan bulan sebelumnya, Toyota tetap memimpin pasar. Dengan angka tersebut, berarti di November 2006 Toyota mendominasi 35,2% dari total penjualan nasional yang mencapai 45.827 unit.

Sedangkan dilihat dari data penjualan kumulatif, pada periode Januari-November 2007, pasar otomotif nasional mencatatkan angka 395.300 unit. Di dalamnya, Toyota berhasil mendominasi 34,6% pangsa pasar melalui penjualannya yang mencapai 136.674 unit.

“Dibandingkan hasil penjualan di bulan Oktober, November lalu penjualan Toyota mengalami kenaikan yang cukup signifikan, yaitu 4.812 unit. Segmen 4-x2, terutama Avanza dan Kijang Innova memberikan kontribusi terbesar dalam peningkatan penjualan ini,” komentar Johnny Darmawan, Presiden Direktur PT TAM.

“Lebih membanggakan lagi, kami optimis kedua mobil tersebut juga menjadi kendaraan terlaris di Indonesia tahun ini. Dilihat dari penjualan Jan-Nov 2007, Avanza mendominasi 14,5% dari total penjualan pasar otomotif nasional, sementara Kijang Innova menguasai 9,2% nya,” tambah Johnny Darmawan. Dilihat dari data penjualan Jan-Nov 2007, yang bakal menjadi mobil-mobil terlaris tahun ini adalah Avanza (57.280 unit), Kijang Innova (36.315 unit), Daihatsu Xenia (26.378 unit).

Selain itu, peningkatan angka penjualan juga ditunjukkan oleh produk-produk Toyota lainnya, di antaranya adalah Vios dan Rush. Penjualan kedua produk yang mendapatkan peringkat pertama survei IQS J.D. Power Asia Pasific 2007 (berikut Yaris) ini meningkat 44% (Vios) dan 74,5% (Rush) dibandingkan bulan sebelumnya.

Bahkan Vios memimpin pasar small sedan bulan November dengan penjualan 511 unit 39,6% m/s. Di kelas medium sedan, Camry mencatatkan penguasaan sebesar 79,3% yang merupakan angka market share tertinggi yang pernah dicapainya. Tahun sebelumnya, Camry menguasai 39,4% pasar medium sedan.

“Dan keunggulan produk Toyota tak hanya dibuktikan melalui angka penjualan. Berbagai penghargaan yang diterima baik dari media maupun lembaga survei independen, seperti Autobild Award 2007 (Vios, Avanza, Camry mobil terbaik di kelasnya) serta peringkat pertama SSI, CSI dan IQS J.D. Power 2007 (Yaris. Rush, dan Vios), juga merupakan cerminan kepuasan pelanggan dan pengakuan yang sangat berarti bagi kami,” tutur Johnny Darmawan.

Komposisi 5 besar pada pasar otomotif nasional November lalu adalah Toyota (35,2%), Mitsubishi (14,8%), Suzuki (13,5%), Daihatsu (10,4%), dan Honda (8,7%). /PR

Toyota Duduki Peringkat Pertama Survei J.D. Power - CSI dan SSI

Toyota terus membuktikan komitmennya dalam memberikan The Best Total Ownership Experience kepada pelanggan. Cerminan dari kepuasan pelanggan terhadap layanan Toyota tahun ini dapat dilihat dari hasil survei J.D. Power kategori CSI (Customer Satisfaction Index) dan SSI (Sales Satisfaction Index), di mana Toyota menduduki peringkat pertama.

Sedang dari sisi produk, keunggulan kualitas produk Toyota kembali dibuktikan melalui J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2007 Indonesia Initial Quality Study (IQS), di mana Toyota Yaris, Vios, dan Rush menduduki peringkat teratas dalam setiap segmennya.

Tiga produk Toyota mengungguli 5 segmen yang diperhitungkan dalam survei ini. Kendaraan yang berada di posisi pertama tersebut tercatat paling sedikit mendapatkan laporan masalah pada tiap 100 kendaraan yang di survei di segmen masing-masing. Toyota Yaris berada di peringkat teratas dalam segmen kendaraan premium compact. Peringkat kedua di segmen ini adalah Suzuki Sx4 dan diikuti oleh Honda Jazz.

Sementara itu, Toyota Vios berada di posisi teratas dalam segmen kendaraan entry midsize/midsize, di mana posisi kedua diraih Honda Civic dan Honda City pada posisi ketiga. Baik Toyota Yaris maupun Vios juga berada di posisi yang sama tahun sebelumnya.

Sedangkan produk baru Toyota, Toyota Rush yang baru dipasarkan semenjak awal 2007, berhasil mengungguli Daihatsu Terios dan Isuzu Panther di segmen entry SUV.

Menanggapi prestasi ini, Johnny Darmawan mengatakan, ”Ini merupakan bukti kualitas produk-produk Toyota yang dipasarkan di Indonesia. Kami bangga bahwa hasil ini didapat dari suara konsumen, yang menandakan kualitas produk Toyota memang berada di atas kompetitornya”, ujar Presiden Direktur PT Toyota-Astra Motor ini.

J. D. Power Asia Pacific 2007 Indonesia Initial Quality Study (IQS) yang tahun ini memasuki tahun kelima, merupakan survey yang dilakukan pada pemilik mobil baru yang melakukan pembelian di antara bulan Oktober 2006 – Juni 2007, mengenai masalah-masalah kualitas kendaraannya.

Hasil J.D. Power Asia Pacific 2007 Indonesia Initial Quality Study (IQS) diperoleh dari survey yang dilakukan atas 2.796 pemilik kendaraan baru, mencakup 50 kendaraan penumpang dan niaga dari 14 merek. Survey lapangan itu sendiri dilakukan pada April – Agustus 2007. /PR

Presiden SBY Kunjungi Clean Vehicles Exhibition di Bali Collection

Sehari setelah acara Clean Vehicle Exhibition di Bali Collection diresmikan oleh Menteri Lingkungan Hidup, Rachmat Witoelar, pada tanggal 3 Desember 2007, Presiden RI, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, berkesempatan meninjau area pameran.

Pada acara tersebut, Toyota memamerkan empat mobil yang telah teruji melalui Clean Air Roadshow yakni Toyota Yaris, Toyota Kijang Inova, Toyota Fortuner Diesel dan Toyota Prius.

Widyawati, Deputy Division Head Marketing Planning & Customer Relations PT Toyota-Astra Motor di hadapan Presiden mengungkapkan bahwa Toyota selalu mendukung berbagai program pemerintah sehubungan dengan kepedulian terhadap lingkungan.

”Toyota selalu turut berperan aktif dalam berbagai kampanye kendaraan ramah lingkungan, misalnya dalam roadshow Biofuel yakni mobil dengan menggunakan bahan bakar alternatif,”ujar Widyawati sambil menunjukan Toyota Fortuner Diesel yang sudah dibubuhi tanda tangan Presiden, didampingi Johnny Darmawan, President Director PT Toyota-Astra Motor.

Di hadapan Presiden, Widyawati juga mempresentasikan Toyota Prius, mobil Hybrid dari Toyota yang keunggulannya telah dibuktikan selama roadshow Jakarta-Bali. Sedang Presiden Yudhoyono menyatakan rasa terima kasihnya kepada para produsen kendaraan dan Gaikindo yang ikut mengampanyekan gerakan ramah lingkungan. ”Kembangkan terus teknologi ramah lingkungan pada kendaraan,” imbau Presiden. /PR

Clean Air Roadshow dan Clean Vehicle Exhibition

Perjalanan rombongan Clean Air Roadshow berakhir di Bali pada tanggal 1 Desember setelah dilepas walikota Malang, Peni Suparto di halaman balaikota Malang. Jarak tempuh sejauh 1080 km ini membuktikan keandalan masing-masing kendaraan dalam performa maupun konsumsi bahan bakar.

Dari tiga mobil Toyota yang dipantau dari konsumsi bahan bakar didapat hasil yakni, Toyota Prius konsumsi BBM 1:25 km, Fortuner Diesel 1:13 km, Vios 1: 17 km dengan berbagai kondisi jalan serta beban muat di kendaraan yang masing-masing diisi empat orang penumpang.

Bersamaaan dengan roadshow ini, Toyota juga menggelar Toyota Goes To School di dua kota yang dilalui roadshow, yaitu Jogja (SMAN 6) dan Bali (SMAN 4). Di dua sekolah ini Toyota bersama pakar lingkungan hidup dan tokoh media, melakukan edukasi tentang teknologi ramah lingkungan, sekaligus mengajak kaun remaja untuk lebih peduli guna mengantisipasi global warming.

Dalam acara ini tampil beberapa pembicara ahli. Dari National Geographics (Tantyo Bangun) membahas mengenai pengertian pemanasan global, sedang dari Kompas (James Luhulima – redaktur otomotif) menjelaskan tentang korelasi antara dunia otomotif dengan antisipasi pemanasan global.

Sementara dari pihak KLH Propinsi memaparkan tentang cara-cara praktis yang dapat dilakukan untuk menghemat energi dan mencegah pemanasan global, ditutup dengan penjelasan dari Toyota mengenai aktifitas dan komitmen yang telah dilakukan Toyota dalam hal lingkungan hidup.

Toyota juga mengadakan workshop tentang daur ulang sehingga para pelajar tidak hanya mengetahui sisi teori melainkan juga langsung melakukan praktek nyata. “Kami bersyukur dapat melakukan aktivitas langsung semacam ini. Antusiasme para pelajar di dua sekolah tersebut membuktikan bahwa generasi muda bangsa kita juga sangat peduli akan pemeliharaan lingkungan hidup, khususnya antisipasi pemanasan global,” ungkap Johnny Darmawan, Presiden Direktur PT TAM pada kesempatan yang berbeda.

Sementara itu, pembukaan Clean Vehicles Exhibition yang dilangsungkan di Bali Collection diresmikan oleh Menteri Lingkungan Hidup, Rachmat Witoelar, pada tanggal 3 Desember 2007. Dalam sambutannya, menteri mengungkapkan rasa terima kasihnya kepada jajaran Gaikindo yang berinisiatif melaksanakan roadshow Jakarta- Bali untuk menunjukan kepada masyarakat kepedulian produsen kendaraan terhadap lingkungan hidup.

“Sebanyak 14 kendaraan yang mengikuti roadshow ini, yang ramah lingkungan, baik yang sudah diproduksi maupun prototipe kendaraan masa depan (future car) dipamerkan di eksebisi tersebut. Kendaraan tersebut di antaranya menggunakan bahan bakar CNG, listrik dan prototipe dengan BBM berstandar EURO 4,” jelas menteri. /PR

BMW Seri 7 Hydrogen Menaklukan Hati Para Diva Film

Bintang film Monica Bellucci, Cate Blanchett dan Jane Fonda menghadiri Rome Film Festival dengan mobil tersebut.

Untuk kedua kalinya, Roma menggelar festival film "Cinema. Festa Internazionale di Roma". Para bintang layar lebar internasional yang hadir di acara 'red carpet' pada tanggal 27 Oktober 2007 yang lalu termasuk Monica Bellucci dengan film terbarunya "Le deuxiéme souffle". Aktris cantik ini mendapat sorotan dari para fotografer karena gaun hitam yang dikenakan malam itu membuat penampilannya sangat istimewa bersama dengan BMW Seri 7 silver bermesin hidrogen yang ditumpanginyanya ke acara tersebut. Selebritis lainnya seperti Cate Blanchett dan Jane Fonda juga menggunakan BMW Seri 7 Hydrogen sebagai kendaraan mereka, saat tampil di acara yang sama.

Manufaktur mobil premium asal Jerman ini menyiapkan 6 unit mobil pertama di dunia yang menggunakan mesin hidrogen selama festival tersebut berlangsung. Beberapa aktor ternama lainnya yang berkesempatan menggunakan mobil masa depan tersebut antara lain Gérard Depardieu dari Perancis, sutradara kenamaan Francis Ford Coppola, Geoffrey Rush aktor asal Australia, aktris Itali Asia Argento dan Greta Scacchi, bintang sekaligus sutradara dari India Shekhar Kapur serta Gilles Jacob, presiden Cannes Film Festival.

BMW adalah pelopor teknologi hidrogen dan telah memperlihatkan keberhasilannya secara konsisten dalam pengembangan teknologi ini. Lebih dari dua dekade ini perusahaan tersebut telah membuktikan kepeduliannya terhadap masalah mobilitas yang berkelanjutan. BMW X5 Terima Penghargaan “autonis” 2007 untuk Desain Paling Menarik

Dalam ajang Frankfurt International Motor Show 2007 yang baru saja selesai berlangsung, BMW X5 terpilih menjadi pemenang kompetisi "autonis" – desain baru terbaik 2007 – untuk kategori mobil off-road. Versi baru BMW X5 yang diluncurkan di Jerman pada bulan Maret 2007 berhasil menjadi yang terbaik dibanding para kompetitor di kelasnya.

Hasil ini membuktikan bahwa Sports Activity Vehicle yang unik karya BMW ini bukan hanya mengesankan dari karakteristik pengendaraan, tapi juga dianggap oleh publik sebagai mobil yang luar biasa menarik dan bergaya.

Di dalam sebuah survei pembaca, majalah mobil "auto motor und sport" telah menetapkan mobil-mobil baru yang paling menarik dalam waktu dua belas bulan terakhir. Pemilihan dilakukan sepenuhnya berdasarkan kriteria visual saja, di mana para pembaca dapat menunjuk titik-titik plus dan minus untuk desain mobil yang mereka nilai. Bangle mempunyai cita-cita untuk bisa memotivasi rekan-rekan kerjanya melalui kekuatan suatu visi yang saling menguntungkan. "Kebebasan individu dan teamwork tidak akan membuat masing-masing saling bertentangan," ucapnya. "Kolega kami tidak bekerja demi kepentingan mereka sendiri, tetapi demi kepentingan pelanggan, mobil dan merek."

Dengan metode kerja kolaboratif yang jelas di departemen desian BMW Group, masing-masing keterampilan dari tiap-tiap rekan kerja dari berbagai bidang khusus yang berbeda-beda telah menghasilkan potensi kreatif yang besar sekali. Dengan demikian, keseluruhan akan tercipta, dengan cara yang lebih efektif dibanding dilakukan oleh masing-masing individu.

Kesuksesan prinsip ini jelas. Banyak penghargaan mendokumentasikan secara mengesankan kompetensi BMW yang luar biasa di dalam pengembangan mobil premium yang memenuhi standar tertinggi di bidang inovasi, dinamika dan daya tarik. The best part about such communities is that they can be fun. We try to keep them that way by eliminating the spam.

Of course, if you have cool parts to help others restore or upgrade their vehicles, like the front grille of the 1948 to 1952 Chevy pickup in good condition, or the Deluxe instrument panel for 1980 Chevy/GMC pickup trucks, we do want to see these types of posts in the AutomotiveParts group. That's actually why we created it. I have a 1980 Chevrolet C109 I am working on. The boss has a restored 1950 Chevrolet pickup. A friend and coworker of mine is working on a 1973 GMC pickup he is restoring. The shop is thinking about making the Chevy Gravel Dump Truck shown on this page a shop restoration project vehicle.

We would love to hear about any old Autocars, Maxwell automobiles, Graham Brothers Trucks, or Henderson (Excelsior-Henderson) motorcycles out there that might be hidden in your barn looking to be restored. Heck, I am looking for an old car, pickup or motorcycle for my new restoration project, myself. Post any such finds in either the Autos & Automotive or AutomotiveParts Google Groups, or in the Automotive WebRing's forum.

If nothing else, it will be fun discussing our dream rides and hot rods. Heck, what do you have hidden away in your garage or barn? What are you working on? Join us just to brag about it a little. ;) Join in just to discuss automotive mechanics or tell us what your car/truck can do. We'd be glad to have anyone who won't spam us with unrelated advertising.

By the way, please be patient when you do apply for membership. I approve membership requests every business day I am here, Monday through Friday, but not on weekends or holidays, and I usually take at least one or two days off each week (but, not always) to devote to running my own businesses. New Automotive & Motorsports Directory

The webmaster at Syd's Eastside Auto Parts has been working pretty hard to establish a new automotive & motorsports related dedicated directory for the past few weeks. Its finally ready! The Automotive SEARCH Directory not only functions as a means of submitting your automotive and/or motorsports related websites, blogs and directories as a static directory listing advertising your business, but also functions as a means for the public to submit any auto/motorsport related URL as a resource candidate for the Automotive SEARCH Network volunteer editors to consider as an authorized link resource for our URL pool of automotive/motorsports from which our search engine draws its results.

Although the directory only represents a smaller part of the Automotive SEARCH Network, it is a significant one because it will allow any user to suggest an automotive or motorsport related web resource. Previously, the only way to submit such a web resource to use in the search results was to become an authorized editor for the Automotive SEARCH Network. Now, automotive enthusiasts and businesses from all over can submit their website and if accepted, can enjoy the targeted traffic that the Automotive SEARCH Network was designed to provide.

Although we are still accepting requests for becoming a volunteer editor, the Automotive SEARCH Network Directory allows us to expand our resource pool of automotive & motorsports URLs without requiring site owners and webmasters to take on any significant obligations as a volunteer editor.

In fact, the Automotive SEARCH Directory now provides a high profile directory platform from which to provide targeted advertising to the automotive industry, auto entusiasts, car clubs and motorsports professionals. Listings are very reasonably priced although a free reciprocal link exchange is also available.

However, the directory does allow visitors to submit listings into multiple categories, as long as the submitted resource is relevant to that category. The directory software and its administration also takes significant steps to avoid spam submissions.

Nissan Siapkan Rest Point dan Bengkel Siaga Mudik Lebaran

PT Nissan Motor Indonesia (NMI) tahun ini kembali menyiapkan Nissan Rest Point (NRP), Bengkel Siaga dan Emergency Road Assistance (ERA) 24 hours selama liburan Lebaran.
“Posko Nissan Rest Point (NRP) bertujuan untuk memberikan perasaan aman dan nyaman kepada para pemilik kendaraan Nissan yang melakukan perjalanan mudik Lebaran ke kampung halamannya,” kata Teddy Irawan, Deputy Director Sales & Marketing NMI, di Jakarta, Rabu.

NRP berlokasi di dua lokasi, yaitu di Simpang Jomin, Cikopo, Cikampek dan Telaga Warna di kawasan Puncak, Bogor. Posko ini akan beroperasi selama 24 jam mulai tanggal 9 Oktober sampai 17 Oktober 2007.

Di samping itu NMI juga menyiapkan Bengkel Siaga Nissan yang beroperasi normal seperti jam dan hari kerja biasa sepanjang musim liburan Lebaran mulai tanggal 11 Oktober sampai 16 Oktober, kecuali 13 dan 14 Oktober (Hari Raya Idul Fitri). Bengkel Siaga tersebut tersebar di Sumatera, Jawa, dan Bali.

Bengkel-bengkel Siaga Nissan yang tetap beroperasi sepanjang liburan Lebaran ada di 11 outlet, yaitu Nissan Gatot Subroto (Medan), Nissan Labuhan Ratu (Lampung), Nissan BSD (Tangerang), Nissan Halim (Jakarta), Nissan Soekarno Hatta (Bandung), Sumber Rejeki Motor (Cirebon), Nissan Puri Anjasmoro (Semarang), Nissan Mlati (Yogyakarta), Nissan Jebres (Solo), Nissan A. Service campaign khusus Lebaran ini digelar sejak 24 September sampai 7 Oktober 2007 di 36 bengkel resmi Nissan yang tersebar di Jawa, Bali, Sumatera, Sulawesi dan Kalimantan.

Untuk layanan ini, pemilik kendaraan Nissan mendapatkan diskon 10% untuk spare parts (maintenance parts) khusus bagi yang melakukan perawatan berkala, serta diskon 20% untuk Nissan Genuine Oil (engine oil) khusus untuk pekerjaan perawatan berkala.

Menurut Sutrisno Lesmono, General Manager After Sales Service & Spare Parts NMI, kegiatan pengadaan Posko NRP dan Bengkel Siaga, serta paket layanan Lebaran ini merupakan bagian dari kegiatan Customer Care & Satisfaction Nissan, sebagai bentuk nyata kepedulian Nissan terhadap konsumennya.

Link Building: A History

At Syd's Eastside Auto Parts, we have been trying to build-up our website and promote it throughout the web. Afterall, no one is going to find it if you keep it a secret, and the more people who know about it, the better.

This is why we have been promoting the website online by building a large network of back links. It is after all, common sense to let everyone know about your website. So over a year ago we had started a campaign to leave our link where ever it was appropriate.

Our link building campaign attempts to concentrate on automotive and regional niche directories, search engines and link exchanges. Unfortunately, there really are very few automotive or South Dakota related niche directories and search engines, currently. We believe niche directories offer a great deal and have started a few such niche services of our own, including AutomotiveSEARCH.net and the Yankton Regional Shopping, Tourism & Business Listings directory.

There is, however, a gigantic pool of general web directories offering a wealth of keyword categorized listings. Some are more helpful than others. Some are search engine friendly, some are not. Most pass the linking information on to the search engines, some do not. Some start out as a free web directory, and within a very short span of time, they are suddenly paid web directories. Some are just plaid so full of advertising that I wouldn't even want our links there.

Anyway, we run several sites. And this blog entry is an actual response to the frustration we have had in getting our hyperlink out and our brand recognized in the online world. It had occurred to me that we really do need to address about this situation, and once people have a clearer idea of which web directories actually work on their systems, maybe the useless crap might go away.

I have always maintained a history of directories, search engines and link exchanges that we have been submitting to since I started. Now that we are expanding our product line and business reach with new websites, I am swinging around again to some of the websites I had promoted our earlier websites on, some a year ago, or more. Soon thereafter, I realized that we need to keep track of the search results for our domain names in these search engines, directories and link exchanges. It is interesting how many of these services so quickly forget our link and deny us the original services provided. Afterall, it was us little guys who had not only provided them with traffic, but recomended them to others, online and off.

This is why I have decided to post some of the history we have had, now that we are starting to document the results of our listing submissions. Hence, I offer a cleaned up version of a history of less than half of our documented efforts of our incoming links building campaign...

Note that although the hyperlinks are listed, we only made clickable the directories, link partners and search engines which we have had a decent experience/partnership with. Now that web directories are getting popular as a means of populating the web with return links, it seems that most of these directories are quickly becoming paid directories and deleting the listings for the partners that promoted them to be able to reach a paid level status. It seems that free web directories are becoming the rare breed, and I have to think that the time filtering out spam submissions and crap websites would go a long way to helping PageRank. It seems that Matt Cuts agrees that paid links do not show an investment of time on promotion, only money. And yet, it seems that paid directories seem to exhibit higher PR. But if this movement of moving to a paid advertising model continues and the free directory becomes rare, will this current trend change?

Anyway, we do not have anything against paid directories. We have enlisted some paid listings, ourselves, and will continue to enlist paid submissions. But when the little guy helps create a big directory, you would think that the big directory would not forget the little guy and delete his/her linked listings. It is this practise that just plain totally and completely sucks.

Well, to close I would like to say that I love web directories and run a few myself. I have found that phpLinkDirectory is by far the best and most affordable package available today. And it is also probably the most effective, as well. I personally think there is a great future in Web Directories, especially in niche directories which don't present a mess of crap that you don't need or want.

Directories are our partners as long as they treat the webmasters who use their services well. Treat us like crap and we post nasty comments about the bad ones. This post is all about that. We have invested a great deal of time and labor trying to get our presence established and recognized, and for a directory master to delete our listing without warning is consiidered an extreme and cruel joke. Even paid submissions require a considerable time and labor investment. If a directory doesn't want to grandfather our already approved listing into the new format, they should consider the backlash of ill will they are creating in that wake.
